I had a small question in this forum to users of DOORS 9.1 (9.1.0.2 build 91132). |
Re: Login policy "Use System Usernames" Set the administrator account to your system username, or login to windows using the account you want associated with administrator. If I recall correctly, you can have your system username associated with the administrator account and your normal doors account. The second overrides the first, so you have a separate shortcut to login as administrator. Someone may be able to correct me if I am wrong. |
Re: Login policy "Use System Usernames" We used system user names for a while back in v6, and noticed the following when you activate the System User Name option in the DB properties: The 'System User Name' is the one you use to log into your computer. The only system user that can use a DOORS user is the one specified in that DOORS user's options. If that's blank or the sys user doesn't exist, you cannot use that DOORS user. If there is exactly one DOORS user with the specified current system user name, you log directly into DOORS without a DOORS login dialog, when you use a DOORS icon. If there is more than one DOORS user specifying the current system user, then you are provided with the DOORS login screen, and must specify one of those DOORS users. You can bypass the DOORS login screen by using the -u command line switch, specifying which DOORS user you wish to login as. If you use the -u switch with a DOORS user not associated with your system login name, you don't login. If there is no DOORS user with your system login name, you don't login. Notice this means that only one user is authorized to use the 'Administrator' account. We bypassed that by creating a new system user 'DOORS-Admin' that had no particular rights to any computer but was specified as the Administrator's system user name, and a few of us had the DOORS-Admin computer password. Not sure what happens if you activate system login names but fail to set ANY users with a system login. Sounds like a job for Support. This whole thing doesn't sound too useful to me; especially the part about the Administrator can only be used by a single computer user. >Louie |
Re: Login policy "Use System Usernames" Actually, I am at a client who just upgraded to DOORS 9.1 patch 2. We don't use System Usernames to login, but we do populate the System Username for each user so that they don't have to type in their login ID. This stopped working on patch 2. What I mean is, any system with patch 2 installed no longer auto populates the DOORS login name. Patch 1 and below work fine. Forgive me for intruding on your question, as your question is slightly different, but I would like to know if anyone else has experienced the same behavior. |
Re: Login policy "Use System Usernames" kbmurphy - Thu Mar 19 16:19:02 EDT 2009 I use the "Use System Usernames" option on the Login Policy tab. Until 9.1.0.2, the users did not see a DOORS login screen. They were automatically logged into DOORS as long as their Windows userid was associated with their DOORS account information in the User Manager. Now, they see the login screen and have to type in their DOORS username to get in. Checking or unchecking the "Use System Usernames" doesn't seem to have any affect. This does not seem true for the DOORS Adminstrator account. If I log into Windows with the account associated the DOORS Administrator account, I don't see a DOORS login screen. This is how it should work for all users. |
